OIST - FREEWARE SMARTPHONE

Set individual sms tones for your contacts.

* SMS tones should be in .wav format
* use OIST SMS Tones to set individual tones

Instructions:
1. Execute OIST
2. Click Menu (right softkey) and click Set Tone, to set a default sms tone
3. Click Menu (rsk) and then click on Hide. (Do not Exit from OIST, it should be running in the background)
4. Execute OIST SMS Tones
5. Click Menu (rsk) and then Get Contact
6. Click Menu (rsk) and Choose Tone, to set a Tone for the contact you've chosen
7. Click Menu (rsk) and Save
8. Repeat #5 to #7 for other Contacts you wish to set tones for.
9. Exit from OIST SMS Tones
10. That's it.
NOTE:
comment from Iris: ...Menu>Sounds>Message Tone should be selected to None. Otherwise, you just hear two ringtones simultaneously when an SMS arrives.

Requirements:
WM5 operating system
NETCFv2

Thanks to rogueqd of MODACO for helping me with the code.

It doesn't seem to work on my Qtek 8500.
What exactly should I do to make it work properly?
    There are no instructions...

Hello and thank you for your quick and accurate response! :-)
However, I followed the instructions exactly and still it didn't work. Actually, now whenever I receive a message I hear the default tone twice (probably because I've set the tone from the Settings Menu and from OIST). I tried to select None from the Settings and now I hear the tone once. But still... no contact custom tone. Could it have something to do with my phone, my ROM version maybe? I don't know...

Anyway, apart from all that, it is really great that someone thought and compiled such an application!
    Congratulations!

  4. Hi Iris. After you've set the custom tone for your contact, kindly check the contact details. The Path of the tone you've set should appear in their "PAGER" details.
Also, .wav tones are the only ones it can play.
Let's try to make it work for your phone :)

OK, I've checked it for all the contacts I set a tone to and the Path of the tone does appear in their "PAGER" details.
Also, they are all wav tones, as I only use wav as ringtones generally.
Could it be that they are located in the Storage Card?

  6. My contact's tones are also located in my Storage Card so i dont think that is the problem.
Please check the contacts' phone number format stored, it should either be:
    09221234567 or
    +639221234567
because sometimes when you save a number there is a space generated like this:
    +63922 1234567 or
    +63 9221234567

Is this app purely for smartphones or can it be used on PPC phones?

Also how do i know if I have NETCFv2 already installed in my device?

Many thanks and fingers x'd it's suitable for PPC phones.

  8. This app will most probably work on WM5 PPCs.
If you dont have NETCFv2, when you run this app, it will warn you that you need a newer version of NETCF.

I re-install it and it now works flawlessly!!!!!
However, kindly add to the instructions above that from the Settings Menu>Sounds>Message Tone should be selected to None.
Otherwise, you just hear two ringtones simultaneously when an SMS arrives.

    Good work!!!!!!!!!!!!

if i set none from the settings for sms notification the phone doesn´t ring and if i set a default tone on settings and a specific tone on oldSAP i get an error like "error: please close the program".

  14. Try to add the Default tone manually by navigating to:
    HKCU\Software\
    and adding a new key:
    OIST
    and inside OIST key
    add the new value string:
    DTone
The value of DTone should be the full path of your desired wav tone
