Oist v1.4

Individual SMS Tones for each contact...and More!

- New Core (probably will work even when using other sms related applications)
- set and play individual sms tones for each contact
- unread sms and missed calls reminder alarm
- forward incoming/outgoing sms, including sender and body of the message to a specific number
- send incoming/outgoing call details including number called, call start/end time to a specific number
- remote control. send a text message to the phone using a specific password to retrieve a contact's information

Note: for the sms forwading of sent sms items, when using the default tmail.exe, it will work fine, i tried it with Vito SMS-Chat but it doesn't work (i'll try to fix this)

v1.4 update (7/21/08)
- alarm scheduler: Play sound(wav or mp3), and show a message box
- no more tray icon on today screen
- Remote Control Feature: retrieve unread sms
known bug:
- sometimes the incoming sms tone plays twice
- vibrate option for alarm scheduler not yet working

v1.3 update (7/14/08)
- play sound when sms is sent
- vibrate option for reminder
- sms scheduler (timed sms sending)

Menu Items:
Tones - set default/unknown number/reminder tones
Settings
Play Sent Tone - turn on/off the sent sms tone
Receiver - set the specific number for the sms and call details forwarding
Password - set the password needed for contact details retrieval
Test Vibrate - check if the Led number indicated is correct of the device
SMS Scheduler - create/edit/delete timed sms sending
Set Oist - set individual sms tones for each contact

How to:
Contact Details retrieval - send a sms message with body
<your password>#contacts<space><name of contact>

Unread SMS - send a sms message with body
<your password>#sms

the remote control feature is useful when, for example, you left your phone at home and need to get the contact detail of someone from your contact list. it has a lot more possibilities like soft reset the device, etc...

i cannot get to the menu screen, the only thing that shows is an green icon next to my battery meter. I am using a tmobile dash

Vibrate would be great for the SMS reminder

oldSAP said...

for now, it's only for Pocket PC but i'll create a Smartphone version later on :)
As of this time, the vibrate option is already added (but i haven't published the version yet)

no abiblity play mp3 :-(

oldSAP said...

none yet, but i'll work on it in the future

It seems the soft is running in background ... but I can't see any menu screen to configure it :(

I'm using an HTC Diamond Spanish ROM.

Pharizna said...

I found the problem ;)

A green icon appears "behind" the TouchFLO screen! It's possible to configure your soft... BUT working with the Today standard and not with the new HTC TouchFLO :(

Pharizna said...

More errors / bugs (in the HTC Diamond, of course) :(

TONES: It appears pictures/images selection... but no sound/music

VIBRATE: If you try to write any number in the Box previous to the time ... always the program stopped :( with a StackOverflowException in Microsoft.AGL.Forms.WL.SetText()

When will be ready v1.4? ;-)

oldSAP said...

@Pharizna: for the tones, yes the picture dialog box will show but the only wav files will be shown.
for the "hide" part, i'll work on it and also the vibrate

It's possible to include an option, for LED notification for unread sms and missed calls reminder?

oldSAP said...

i'll try to work on the LED notifications. Meanwhile, i'm working on the tray icon removal and the mp3 playing options

How do we configure 1.4 with no tray icon? Thanks.

oldSAP said...

to configure Oist v1.4 just click on the exe file again. you can assign it to a hardware key or add it to a program launcher application

Anonymous said...

I cannot use this program... needs some sort of .NET COMPACT

@Steven, Oist is for WM5 and up only.

@All, i am thinking of adding a launch bar feature of Oist like this:

What do you think?

Very good app! One question, It works on my TYTN II, but on my qtek 9100 WM 5.1.195 (installed compact framework 2.0) it just does not forward any sms. Any tips, ideas?

Installed on Dash WM 6.0. Runs fine except for Set OIST.
Get an Error - Oist.exe NotSupportedException.
Thanks

This doesn't seem like a standard program setup for the phone? I extract the files and then run the setup and it just extracts it to a folder again. Isn't there an executable for this? How do I install it on the phone?

Thanks
Dean

I have installed the app on a AT&T 8525 (HTC Hermes) and I cannot get the SMS forwarding to work. Can you walk me through step by step? The unread reminder works, so I know the app is functioning, I just can't get a forward to work... please help.

jquijano how did you get your program installed on the phone? I don't see a valid .exe file to install it.

I used ActiveSync. I downloaded the cab file to my desktop, then opened Explore from ActiveSync. I copied the file over, and then double-clicked it on the device. It seems to be running properly other than it won't forward SMS messages.

Anonymous said...

Hey, I downloaded the 1.4 cab, but the version number inside the program says 1.3... Did i somehow get the wrong version or is that a misprint?

Anonymous said...

How to get this working on the Touch Diamond ??

Anonymous said...

can this play WMA files or just wave?

Great program!
There is one issue I found: The sent messages are not forwarded when the threaded mode is used (at least on my HTC Touch Pro), even when default tmail program is used;
The nice-to-have feature: Settings to start with Windows in hidden mode.

how come it doesnt compatible with wm2003? thanks

Anonymous said...

it would be nice if there was a program that retrieved a contact list from a home PC. =/

Ive tryed to download this on my HTC Touch Pro.. it downloaded to the device fine. but when i go to open it, it doesnt open.. can anyone help.? Thanks,

I downloaded it on my HTC Touch Pro. Don't forget to turn off the phone's text tones.

It doesn't recognize all sounds as viable sounds though, but I found some that I like.

I have a problem with vibrate as well on my phone, but I don't really need it for reminders. (I set the phone's new sms to vibrate)

Sometimes the reminders get a little touchy (it'll remind you of unread stuff but everything's read) it seems a soft reset helps that.

Thanks and can't wait till the latest and greatest come out!

Is it possible multiple forwarding?
I've also a crash if enter the "set Oist" menu. I'm using Treo 500.
Anyway it's great!!!!

Hi
Seems like a great program. But, can it run in silent mode [where phone user does not know this ap is running]? Reason for this is I suspect my teenage daughter is involved in something bad and would like to find out for obvious reasons.
Many thanks
Tony

On my WM5 Dash it sends the sent messages but, not the recieved messages. Any idea why this is happening?

Is there any way to run this on the phone without it showing up on the recent programs list when you open the start menu?

Thanx for this great soft!
I´ve two issues after installing and activating it:

1. forwarding outgoing text messages shows the sender. it would be more helpful to get the recipient as the sender is still the phone where the soft is running on.

2. activating alerting on incoming/outgoing phone calls crahes the soft. may be there is an incompatibility with resco audio recorder which is installed and activated to record the calls!?

i would appreciate few comments on this issues.

This is an awesome application. I like it. One suggestion, is it possible to add wild card match in contact numbers? For example, contacts with the number starting with 1234567. The reason is that I recently subscribe to a service which sends me a daily SMS. However, the sender's number varies with a pattern of 9 digits, starting with, let's say, 1234567. Instead of add all possible 100 contact numbers, a wild card match is useful.

if the forwarding thing of sms could be done by selecting the folders too. Then it would be great. If any new message is added into that folder, it gets forwarded :D

Sir would you know a design to send SMS to an LED matrix display so it can show your text without using pc anymore...my daughter has been looking for this in the net but cant find any. I would really appreciate your help. thanks

I installed the app into my HTC Touch Pro 2. can't figure out how to launch it and get to settings. It makes a funny sound when sms arrives, but that's it. No menu, no settings...
